May 27th: Appalachian Bark Berry Basket Making Class
“How did you make that?” is what people say when they see them. The traditional Appalachian Bark Berry Basket is a beautiful and functional craft item made from tulip tree bark when the sap flows in the spring. In this hands-on class, you will make your own bark basket to take home and use. We’ll go through the process of harvesting the bark and lacing up the basket, with option for further decoration. This workshop is led by Fuz Sanderson of the Piedmont Earthskills Gathering.
You will need a sharp, non-serrated knife. An awl is very useful, if you have one, but not necessary to attend. Class will take around 3 hours and begins at 12pm. Click HERE to register or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
