Come out to Shakori Hills on Saturday, August 29th for our 6th Annual NC Stars in the Round fundraiser. It’s the perfect way to spend a full-moon summer evening with friends & festival family! All funds from the event will go toward the Shakori Hills Community Arts Center to carry out our mission of being a center for arts education and community-building for Chatham County and beyond.
The evening’s highlight will be a singer-songwriter circle featuring some great local musicians and songwriters. Each artist will share his or her unique musical talents one song at a time, then pass the mic to the next. The stars include: Dave Wilson (of Chatham County Line), Kamara Thomas, Brett Harris, Steph Stewart, Mary Johnson Rockers, and Lakota John Locklear!
Opening the show will be blues crooner, Big Ron Hunter. Ron is called the World’s Happiest Bluesman. He owns a voice that gives people chills. It’s the kind of voice that carries warmth and tenderness, a voice that is unmistakably his own and embodies everything that’s raw, pure and beautiful about the blues.
Following the circle, festival favorite, super fun-time band, Dr. Bacon will help us dance into the night! These guys started playing on the Coffee Barn Stage during the Shakori Hills GrassRoots festival and have found a big spot in our hearts. What a great way to close out the night!
Unless you want to keep dancing, in which case, our friend DJ Khaleeb will be spinning some vinyl tunes for you late-night folks (but not wild enough so that you campers can’t still get some shut-eye).
There will be local food trucks, local craft beer, and the Lil’ Coffee Barn will be open with coffee, and snacks. This is a family-friendly event and all are welcome to camp overnight on Saturday. There will be fresh drinking water on site, feel free to bring your own cup or bottle. Please support us and our vendors by buying your food and alcohol once you get here. Bring chairs and blankets, make yourself at home!
Tickets are $12 advance or $17 at the gate, camping is $10 per site (which includes a vehicle and two tents) and can be purchased HERE or by calling 919-542-8142. Kids 12 and under get in free! Advance Tickets are available from now until the day before the event, and then at the gate on the day of the show. Gates open at 4pm, show starts at 7pm.
