Print-Making & Other Visual Arts
Three 3-week sessions this summer!
Instructor: Stacye Leanza
Print Making, Collagraphs: Wednesdays, June 7th – 21st, 6-9pm
Collagraphy is a fun, easy and expressive form of print making wherein flat, textured objects are fixed to a printing plate before inking, creating multi-layered prints. We’ll explore a multitude of ways to create & print them, including some unconventional methods that don’t require a press to make the prints. No skill is required, so it’s great for beginners! The process itself tends to unleash the imagination, so it’s a great class for some untethered self-expression! Workshop is free and open to the public, ages 14+. Click HERE to register. Donations appreciated. Class size is limited to 10 participants.
Print Making, Monoprints: Wednesdays, July 12th – 26th, 2-5pm
Unlike other forms of printmaking, monoprints & collagraphs do not require much technical skill or preparation, so they are great for beginners and people who don’t like to plan. A monoprint is basically an image painted on a glass (or plexiglass) plate, then transferred on to paper. In this class, we’ll be using some unconventional methods that don’t require a press to make the prints. Like the collagraphy class above, the process tends to unleash the imagination, and allow your self-expression to shine through! This class will be held at Briar Chapel (exact directions available soon). Workshop is free and open to the public, ages 14+. Click HERE to register. Donations appreciated. Class size is limited to 12 participants.
Exploring Abstract Art: Saturdays, July 29th – August 12th, 2-5pm
Practice the same art exercises that the early Western abstract and Surrealist artists used to loosen up & access their fertile subconscious minds! With practice, you will begin to form your own personal “language” of shape, line, symbol, & color, while exploring basic drawing elements and composition. Learn a bit of the history, & see slideshows of some of the greats, for inspiration! If you are eager to try making abstract art, but don’t know where to start, this class will show you how, step by step.
This is another high-energy class! Beginners are welcome, as well as established artists who desire to deepen their art-making experience. No experience is necessary, just a desire for spirited adventure! Limited to 10 students. Class will be held at Briar Chapel; exact directions available soon. Workshop is free and open to the public, ages 14+. Click HERE to register. Donations appreciated.
